Jennifer K. Felner, PhD, MPH

(she/her/hers) Dr. Jennifer Felner is an Assistant Professor of Public Health and Director of the Undergraduate Program in Public Health at San Diego State University. She is a community health scientist with postdoctoral training in social epidemiology. Dr. Felner’s multi-method, community-engaged research examines and intervenes on the social and structural determinants of health inequities among youth, particularly LGBTQ+ youth and youth experiencing homelessness. Specific areas of focus include tobacco and substance use inequities, HIV prevention, and youth resource access. Dr. Felner’s primary research goals are to advance health equity and justice through directly engaging youth as equitable research partners and leaders, and leveraging critical, action-oriented research approaches.
